Dr. Benham's Academic & Professional Background
Ron has extensive experience working with both men and women who have survived childhood sexual
abuse, helping them navigate the complexities of intimacy and relationships. He also specializes in couples counseling for professionals whose workplace strengths may unintentionally create challenges in their personal lives. For example, lawyers who “emotionally litigate” in their intimate relationships or pilots who manage their families as they would their flight crew. Through therapy, these professionals learn how to channel their skills in ways that not only improve their relationships but also enhance their effectiveness in their careers.
In Dr. Ron's Own Words
"Thank you for visiting my profile. I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to seek help and address life’s challenges. My hope is that you find a therapist who provides the emotional safety you need to explore and work through your concerns. If you choose to work with me, you’ll find that I take a thoughtful, collaborative, and pragmatic approach to therapy. Together, we’ll identify the changes needed to help you achieve your goals while considering how therapy may impact your personal relationships.
If you are married or in a committed relationship, I often recommend working in a couples modality. Individual therapy, while beneficial, can sometimes create unexpected shifts in relationships, leaving partners feeling uncertain. By working together as a couple, you can foster mutual growth and understanding, ensuring that your personal development enhances, rather than disrupts, your relationship. Of course, therapy will always be tailored to your specific needs."
