Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate

EMDR Practitioner

Angela Mulligan, MFTC

Hi! I'm Angela..

If you've found your way here, something in you is waking up.

You want something richer and more alive. You want a relationship where love isn’t just something you remember feeling. Maybe you’ve patched the obvious wounds, survived the hard parts, even done the therapy…and yet still feel the ache in the spaces where love is supposed to live.

In our work together...

  • I help couples who want to fight for each other, instead of against, learn to reach instead of retreat.

  • For individuals, I’m here not only as witness to the release of the pain you’ve been silently carrying, but also as guide as you speak your deepest yearnings for love, joy, and connection back to life.

Healing doesn’t have to roar.

Sometimes it begins with a single quiet truth spoken out loud,

one courageous conversation at a time.

What working together looks like...

With me, you can expect a lot of warmth and gentle, but direct nudges in a new direction:

  • We’ll explore why you shut down when things get tender.

  • We’ll dig into the trauma that still hijacks your present.

  • We’ll un-train your nervous system from expecting danger where love should be.

You’ll learn new ways of loving - the kind of love that builds trust, laughter, and the steady, consistent certainty of belonging.

What guides my work

There is this moment in therapy - small, nearly invisible - when someone speaks a truth they’ve never said out loud. I LIVE for that moment. Not because it's dramatic or brave…but because it’s real. And healing begins with realness.

I believe deeply in the possibility that relationships can come back to life - even the ones that feel like they’ve gone too quiet (or too loud). I also believe that trauma doesn’t get to have the final word. I care about the versions of people that don’t get much airtime: when we hide hurt behind humor, when we want closeness but don’t have the words, when we learned love has to be earned. I intentionally create a therapy space where defenses loosen, people laugh at the absurdity of being human, and real connection grows wild again.

Education, training, and experience

My professional life has centered around helping people return to themselves and to each other. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate in Colorado and Hawaii. I’m trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and EMDR for trauma healing, with additional training in IFS-informed work.

I didn’t become a therapist in your typical classroom. I became one while wandering around barefoot in the woods, through attachment science, and within the sacred emotional moments that happen between people. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years in holistic healing environments and nature-based communities — places that taught me how deeply we humans long to feel meaning, connection, and freedom inside our own lives. I’ve supported thousands of clients toward deeper resilience, clarity, and emotional presence and continue to believe in the extraordinary potential we each carry to change.

When I’m not in session...

You'll find me outside surfing by home in Hawaii, dancing, or on a long walk in nature,

remembering that we are all connected.
